Sherry Heuser HeadshotSherry Heuser began working with Capability Company as a senior consultant in 2005, directly supporting clients with their searches and advising on company strategy. In 2009, Sherry became President of the company, upon Rebecca Worters' transition out of the role.


Sherry’s professional experience spans more than 20 years with nonprofit organizations and local and state governments in Virginia and across North Carolina, and the federal government.  She has served as Executive Director and in Program Coordinator roles, including managing administration, statewide grants, and local service provider relations. Recent positions include coordinating children's and family services and health promotion and awareness initiatives.  She is passionate about supporting nonprofit organizations and understands the positive impact of a strong infrastructure.


Sherry has served on the Boards of Directors of Marbles Kids Museum and Youth Empowered Solutions in Raleigh and the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Symphony, in addition to a number of other local organizations. Her volunteer roles have included Board Chair, Committee Chair, activity coordinator and advisory council member. In addition, she is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Raleigh Professional Women's Forum, and has been recognized for her community involvement by the Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh, where she is also a member. She recognizes the significant value volunteer leadership can bring to nonprofit organizations, and has experience with all aspects of fundraising.


Sherry enjoys matching nonprofit organizations’ needs with the resources required to accomplish their mission, bringing together leaders and organizations. She believes outstanding people who are committed and effective are the most important asset a nonprofit can have.
She is a native of Northern Virginia and has lived in North Carolina since 1996.  She holds an undergraduate degree in Counseling from Old Dominion University, a graduate degree in Counseling from George Mason University, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. Sherry lives in the Triangle and enjoys hiking, traveling, scuba diving and attending concerts and theater performances.

 

Nicole Hardy - Associate Search Consultant

Nicole Hardy manages search-related administration and coordinates contact with applicants and clients. Much of her career has focused on client services and customer care, as well as financial and personnel management, and general administrative support. She has worked in positions in the hotel industry, corporate housing, software engineering firms and healthcare provider offices. She began working with Capability Company in 2007.

Nicole relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina from the Boston area in 2003. She enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and spending family time with her husband and two children.

 

Jenny Kearney - Communications Consultant

Jenny Kearney is Capability Company's Marketing and Communications Officer, responsible for external communications and website maintenance. She brings to the role 3 years experience as a small business owner preceded by 7 years in the software industry, performing quality assurance for large internet applications in the United States and abroad.

Jenny received her BS degree in Physics at Mary Washington College. Originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Jenny currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband and two children. She is an active hockey mom, spending way too much time at the local ice rinks, and volunteers with her kids' school and scout troops. She enjoys traveling, reading, running, tennis, and just about any outdoor activity.

 

Rebecca Worters - Founder & Consultant

Rebecca L. Worters has extensive experience in fundraising and organizational leadership. Prior to starting Capability Company in 2002, she was a leader in development and organizational planning for the North Carolina Symphony, the United Way of Howard County (Kokomo, Indiana) and the Indianapolis Art Center. She was the Director of Major Gifts for Children's Mercy Hospital (Kansas City, Missouri) and has served in fundraising roles with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Playspace Children's Museum (Raleigh, North Carolina).

In 2009, Rebecca handed over the reins of Capability Company so she could begin a new adventure, focusing on her artistic side. You can see Rebecca's artwork at www.rebeccaworters.com.
