What You’ll Do as the Next Executive Director
This is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader to champion the mission of Dementia Alliance of North Carolina and expand its impact across the state. The Executive Director will guide the organization in improving the lives of those impacted by dementia through innovative programs, strategic leadership, and meaningful partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Visionary Leadership
- Lead the organization with a clear and compelling vision that aligns with its mission and values.
- Develop and implement long-term strategies to ensure the organization remains relevant and impactful in serving North Carolinians impacted by dementia.
- Foster innovation in program delivery and operational excellence to address emerging needs within the community.
Impact Measurement and Reporting
- Establish and oversee systems to track and evaluate the impact of programs and services.
- Communicate program outcomes and organizational achievements to stakeholders through reports, presentations, and donor communications.
- Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement.
Organizational Culture and Staff Development
- Foster a positive organizational culture rooted in the values of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA).
- Build and support a high-performing team through professional development, mentorship, and clear goal-setting.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and well-being among staff and volunteers.
Partnerships and Collaborative Leadership
- Build and nurture relationships with other nonprofits, government agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations to expand the organization’s reach and influence.
- Act as a thought leader in the field, representing the organization at conferences, panels, and community events.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address systemic challenges affecting those impacted by dementia.
Fundraising and Donor Engagement
- Develop and execute innovative fundraising strategies to grow financial resources, with a focus on securing grants and expanding the donor base.
- Serve as the public face of Dementia Alliance, building relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners to inspire long-term support.
Marketing and Brand Leadership
- Lead the strategic vision for marketing and brand positioning, ensuring Dementia Alliance is recognized as the premier resource for dementia support, education, and research in North Carolina.
- Build and leverage key partnerships, media relationships, and thought leadership opportunities to enhance the organization’s visibility and credibility on a statewide and national level.
- Oversee integrated marketing efforts that align with fundraising, advocacy, and outreach strategies, strengthening donor loyalty and community engagement.
- Set marketing performance goals, analyze audience insights, and refine strategies to maximize awareness, engagement, and mission impact.
Operational and Financial Management
- Oversee the organization’s budget and financial health, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency.
- Strategically allocate resources to support impactful programs and initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with financial policies, regulations, and best practices.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors
- Partner with the Board to set strategic vision, align priorities, and develop plans to enhance the organization’s statewide impact.
- Provide regular updates and clear communication to ensure alignment and progress toward shared goals.

What You’ll Bring
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree preferred, or related equivalent experience.
- Experience: At least 5–10 years in nonprofit leadership or related roles.
- Skills: Expertise in fundraising, impact measurement, team development, and strategic planning. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and Google Workspace is required.
