Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Georgia and Alabama seeks a very strong leader to serve as Vice President of Development, who can develop a vision and strategy for the Development Department, measure and monitor results, hold others accountable and produce strong financial results.

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Summary:

The Vice President of Development oversees all areas of fund-raising and public relations for the Georgia and Alabama Chapter.

Principle Accountabilities include:

  • Creating and executing strategy for chapter development.
  • Supervise and direct development staff to meet financial goals through donor stewardship, corporate partnerships, national programs, grants, direct mail, event implementation, and planned giving.
  • Manage all aspects of donor prospecting, cultivation, relations and retention including ensuring systems are in place to support these activities. This includes responsibility for maximizing use of Raisers Edge.
  • Plans long and short range strategies for fundraising including preparation and monitoring of both Georgia and Alabama budgets.
  • Insures compliance with all chapter and national development and personnel policies
  • Creates and/or reviews all development materials and press releases. Insures that adequate media/ public relations plans are in place throughout chapter markets
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundations, corporations, and individuals for fundraising and donations of in-kind resources.
  • Represents the chapter at special events and public speaking engagements as requested.
  • Assist the CEO as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

In addition, the Vice President of Development is part of the management team of the Chapter and participates as a team member in making decisions in program services, development and fundraising, marketing, public relations and training.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or an equivalent (Masters preferred)
  • CFRE required
  • Proven track record in leading a Development Department (2+ years)
  • Excellent writing and platform skills
  • Demonstrated excellence at project management
  • Ability to lead remote team
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge strongly preferred

Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Georgia and Alabama is fully supported by the national Make-A-Wish Foundation organization and has been in existence for 30 years nationally and 25 years locally, with a strong brand and good reputation. The operating budget of this chapter is over $4mm, with the goal of exceeding $5mm to meet the growing demand.
