Development Coordinator (Part Time)

Raleigh, NC

THE ORGANIZATION

North Carolina Opera was formed in 2010 from the merger of Capital Opera Raleigh and The Opera Company of North Carolina. It is dedicated to presenting operatic performances at the highest level throughout the Triangle. We also have a robust education program that brings opera to schools across Wake County and surrounding counties. North Carolina Opera brings international level artists to Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, and also engages the best in local Triangle talent.

During its founding season, Eric Mitchko was named General Director and Timothy Myers was named Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. Both came to the organization with rich experience in music and a passion for the arts. Through their leadership and vision, NC Opera provides the community with a stellar product, able to mount both large-scale and more intimate productions in a variety of venues across the Triangle, with casts that feature the finest singers from the world’s opera stages, as well as emerging talent from across the state. The company continues to offer cutting edge programming and community engagement and education activities throughout the region, and frequently collaborates with many other cultural and performing arts organizations.

NCO’s upcoming season features Verdi’s Aida, Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, and a Wagner concert including Act I of The Valkyrie starring Metropolitan Opera tenor Jay Hunter Morris. In addition to the 3 mainstage productions scheduled for this season, NC Opera also hosts engaging “Opera About Town” performances in various settings in the local community, the popular “A Taste of Opera” dinner and discussion series, fascinating master classes, entertaining “Opera in the Schools” programs for children, and a festive annual gala. These diverse offerings have quickly made NC Opera a key contributor in the Triangle’s performing arts repertoire.
